The Scholarship Committee invites all interested students to apply for one or more of the scholarships offered by First Baptist Church.

You may be apply for consideration for:

  • The EMMITT STEVENSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($500.00) 

Open to all majors at the school of the student’s choice. 

  • The DERRICK AND LAURIE JACKSON SCHOLARSHIP ($1,000.00) 

Open to all majors; however, the ideal recipient would be a business or social science major. 

  • The JOHN V. AND ALICE B. MALONE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($1,000.00) 

The recipient must major in medicine or allied health science. This scholarship may be used at any college offering proposed major. 

  • The BETTY ROCHELLE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($500.00) 

Open to all majors at the school of the student’s choice. 

  • The FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (Amount may vary) 

Open to all majors at the school of the student’s choice. 

  • The FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH SCHOLARSHIP (Amount may vary) 

Open to all majors at the college or university of the student’s choice

  • The WILLIAM "BUBBA" DUNN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($500.00) 

Open to all majors and schools. Write and attach a page or less essay on Bubba's life motto: "Never let your circumstances define who you will become".

  • The JOHN R. RAY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($500.00) 

Open to all majors at the school of the student's choice.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: 

1. Submit this completed application form by March 31st to either of the following scholarship 

Committee members: Dorothy Black, Charles H. Brinkley, Sr., Velma Howell Brinkley, Carrie M. Dowell, Franklin E. Harper, Crystal Lewis, Verdell L. Martin, Arlesta M. Smith or William Smith. 

 

2. Attach a copy of your transcript. 

 

3. Incomplete applications will decrease the applicants chances of receiving one of the awarded scholarships.

4. Must be a member of First Baptist Church, 290 East Winchester Street, Gallatin, Tennessee 37066, and a fulltime (12 hours) undergraduate student. Applicant ineligible after receiving four (4) scholarships. 

 

5. If for any reason the recipient fails to register, or registers and is eligible for a refund, said money is to be refunded to the donor : Scholarship Committee, First Baptist Church, 290 East Winchester Street, Gallatin, Tennessee 37066. 

 

6. The applicant must have graduated high school within the past five (5) years and presently 

enrolled in some accredited undergraduate institution from which a transcript is required. 

 

7. Applicant should possess the following: acceptable conduct, honesty, respect for self and others, high morals, and a sincere desire for an education as exemplified by performance. 

 

8. The scholarship money will be forwarded to the institution of the student’s choice and given to the credit of said full-time undergraduate recipient. 

 

9. A minimum grade point average (cumulative) of 2.00 (C) must be held at the time of application and maintained during the academic year. 

 

10. Strong points of consideration are: academic ability, church activities, years of service, frequency in attendance and need.
